Workshop on the topic “Master of Public Administration – Postgraduate program for future executives in Germany’s Federal Public Administration”

The European Union funded project “Support for Public Administration Capacity Building in Turkmenistan” conducted the next round of workshops to support the Academy of Civil Service under the President of Turkmenistan (AoCS) in the development of Master’s degree program in public administration. The event was organized with the online participation of the Dr. Klaus Erdmann, in the conference hall of the AoCS.

Dr. Klaus Erdmann presented the experience of Germany in the implementation of the Master of Public Administration (MPA) postgraduate program for future executives of Federal Public Administration. Professor Erdmann acquainted the participants with the Central and Special Branches of the Federal University of Public Administration, its clients and target groups. The expert presented the Study Programs at the Federal University in detail, where he spoke about the schedule, program content, goals and principles of the MPA program. Dr. Erdmann explained about the Basic Training Structure with ILIAS – an open-source web-based learning management system and demonstrated the usage of the system in the university. The textbooks “Global governance” written by Dr. Klaus Erdmann for a learning module in the long-distance study of the MPA program raised great interest among the participants.

At the end of the workshop, participants discussed with the Professor the opportunities for future collaboration. Dr. Klaus Erdmann supported the idea and expressed his willingness to guide and support the AoCS in the development of productive initiatives. The representatives of the AoCS expressed gratitude to the Project Team Leader Mr. Folkert Milch for the opportunity created for the AoCS lecturers to learn the international practices in the development and implementation of the MPA program as well as for establishing a partnership with civil service training institutions in the EU member states.
