Workshop on the development of MPA program for the Academy of Civil Service under the President of Turkmenistan and meeting on cooperation with the University of the Federal Public Administration

The workshop on development of Master’s degree program in public administration (MPA) and the meeting with the representatives of the University of the Federal Public Administration of Germany were organized by the European Union funded project “Support for Public Administration Capacity Building in Turkmenistan”. The online event was conducted in the conference hall of the Academy of Civil Service under the President of Turkmenistan with participation of the lecturers of AoCS to discuss the recommendations on the MPA Module Handbook and future cooperation between the German and Turkmen public administration institutions.

The first part of the event started with the MPA workshop where the project international expert Dr. Klaus Erdmann made a presentation on the MPA Module Handbook developed by the Turkmen experts with joint efforts of the project experts. Dr. Erdmann evaluated the Module handbook according to the world standards of module development and made some recommendations to improve the module development skills of the lecturers of the AoCS, who actively took part in elaboration of the modules. The expert made some comments on components of the Module handbook, namely on Overall qualification goal, Programme profile, Key learning outcomes, Competences, Programme structure, Allocation of credits and Description of single modules. Participant actively discussed the recommendations as well as proposals made by the professor and drafted some notes for future reference.

During the second part of the event, the Scientific Director of the MPA Program of the University of the Federal Public Administration, Professor Doctor Thomas Sauerland made an introductory presentation on MPA program of the University and discussed with the participants the module handbook of the University. He briefly explained the content of the handbook and spoke about modules of the MPA program, eligibility criteria, expected results from the program, competences, and exams. After the presentation, Dr. Sauerland discussed with the AoCS representatives the future cooperation opportunities between the University of the Federal Public Administration of Germany and AoCS. The event was concluded with positive proposals and mutual interests of the parties for future cooperation.
