MPA workshop on the development of competence based training courses

The EU-funded project “Support for Public Administration Capacity Building in Turkmenistan” organized the next round of workshops on the development of Master’s degree program in Public Administration (MPA). The workshop on the development of the competence based training courses was conducted for the teaching staff of the Academy of Civil Service under the President of Turkmenistan (AoCS) with online participation of the project international expert Dr. Klaus Erdmann.

The aim of the workshop was to strengthen the capacity of the AoCS’s teaching staff and widen the scope of their activities.

During the workshop Dr. Klaus Erdmann presented to the participants the principles of training design, training cycle and detailed instructions on designing training modules. The expert explained the principles of “Mindmapping”, rules for didactic design and “Sandwich model” which are applied in a case work. Participants actively discussed the competency model and dimensions giving different examples from their teaching experience.

Mr. Erdmann presented to the participants the manual “Trainer guidelines” and explained in brief its content. The expert proposed the AoCS teaching staff to get acquainted with the manual and discuss it in detail during the next round of the MPA workshop. 

The effective day was summed up with clear objectives and new ideas for further work on the development and implementation of the MPA program in AoCS as well as with agreeing with the project team on organization of the following MPA workshop with participation of Dr. Klaus Erdmann.
